Heres another gem with Taylor Coaches. Toongabbie Buses purchased several ex PTC Leyland Worldmasters and scrapped their bodies. They refurbished the chassis and repowered them with GM 6.71s, said to be obtained from the NSWGR. They were rebodied by Custom Coaches (1981-82) and they retained their semi auto pneumocyclic gear boxes. The buses passed to Westbus, then onto Deanes Southtrans of Menai. These buses sounded absolutely beautiful and great to ride, as i did when Southtrans operated them. The batch were then sold off far and wide, and this unit was former PTC 2967 and ex m/o 7113. Although the blue stripe across the front is an addition, the bus retains the Southtrans livery and fleet number 34. It was noted the bus is now fitted with an Alison Auto transmission... now that would be interesting to hear! |
